Fantastic Opportunity to make a difference to Children and Young People across Wales.

North Pembrokeshire Support Worker – 37 hours (part-time considered). Ceredigion North (maternity cover) with possible extension, funding dependent – 30 hours

It’s estimated that 133,053 children in Wales have experienced or witnessed domestic abuse. These adverse childhood experiences can have a huge impact on children and young people, but referral options are limited due to the lack of specialist CYP support available.

To address this need, Cyfannol Women’s Aid, Calan DVS, Cardiff Women’s Aid, Gorwel and West Wales DAS have come together to deliver the Ar Trac project to children aged 5-16 across 10 counties in Wales, thanks to funding from Welsh Government.

Ar Trac will support children and young people who are exhibiting difficulties with their family and peer relationships, having experienced domestic abuse. As such we are recruiting experienced CYP workers who will support and deliver training to children and young people.

What you will need to succeed in this role….

You will provide CYP Support Worker experience and have knowledge of working within a charity or public sector organisation, where you have successfully mentored and/or supported children and young people. You will have a comprehensive awareness of domestic abuse and be experienced in developing training activities and be comfortable delivering training for children and young people. You will have knowledge and experience in making your group sessions successful in building confidence and self-esteem. As you may be travelling and working across Wales, you ideally will be a Welsh speaker or have the desire to learn conversational Welsh.

Your personality…..

You will be confident with the ability to work with all age groups, have great interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to build relationships and work collaboratively with a wide range of delivery partners, academic institutions and children/young people. You will be highly organised, adaptable to change, robust, resilient and enjoy motivating individuals with a passion to support children and young people.

If you want to be part of a pioneering project working across Wales to make a difference to the lives of children and young people impacted by Domestic Abuse, this is the role for you.

What you receive in return….

You will be joining a growing value-based organisation which offers a competitive salary and a comprehensive benefit package, which varies between partners.

We welcome applications from all areas of the community; however, we particularly encourage applications from members of our BAME community as well as individuals with disabilities who are currently under-represented within our workforce.
